Hi all, We are looking at a Marathon to the Sky high altitude balloon launch on Thursday, July 2nd at 2:00pm (1400EST) from the Olean Middle School Track. We are shooting for an altitude of 40,000 meters, or around 130,000 feet, the length of a marathon. At these altitudes, known as near-space, one can see the black curvature of space, and the payload will be above 99% of the Earth\'s atmosphere! Thursday\'s launch will be a 65 gram payload and a Hwoyee 1600 balloon. The payload includes a new addition, a high definition camera, along with a ham radio (Compressed APRS on 144.390mhz, callsign KD2FZW-11) beacon that transmits our GPS location, temperature and battery voltage so that we can retrieve the payload.
