UN FLOATER AUSTRALIEN  PICO BALLON ENTENDU AUX ÉTATS-UNIS

Un ballon radioamateur léger et de petite puissance  lancé en Australie a été entendu aux États-Unis, reporté par WIA Newsman Graham Kemp, VK4BB:

Un pico ballon de fête portant une charge utile a été lancé à partir de Melbourne, le samedi 18 octobre et suivi à Tamworth Nouvelles-Galles du Sud, entre Sydney et Brisbane.

Il a été lancé par Andy Nguyen VK3YT qui dit que pendant ce vol à l'énergie solaire la charge utile Pico ballon PS-23  a été entendu sur WSPR aussi loin que les États-Unis par W8AC James Martin dans l'Ohio.

Le suivi du ballon de  25 milliwatts a impliqué des stations dans VK1, VK2, VK3, VK5, VK6, VK7 et ZL1 utilisant Olivia et JT65 sur 30m et 20m.

Andy VK3YT dit que le ballon PS-23 a atterri près de Tamworth pour être récupéré par une équipe de scouts de la JOTA locale, dirigée par Ashley VK2XSO et Ron VK2HRD.

Il a été lancé à nouveau le dimanche, mais cette fois avec la charge numéro 2 en utilisant JT9. Ce vol a atterri dans la mer de Tasman, dimanche soir.

Andy VK3YT dit que les tests effectués par les deux charges utiles ont prouvé la fiabilité de l'utilisation de types JT9 et JT65 de faibles modes de signaux numériques pour la télémétrie des ballons.

Selon VK4BB, les deux ballons ont été suivis de manière au niveau du sol par VK6XT près de la ville de Perth en Australie-Occidentale et ZL1RS en Nouvelle-Zélande, qui sont tous deux à des milliers de kilomètres de l'endroit où les lancements et les vols ont eu lieu. (WIA Nouvelles)

AUSTRALIAN FLOATER PICO BALLOON HERD IN THE UNITED STATES

A light weight micro power ham radio floater balloon launched in Australia has been heard in the United States as we hear from WIA Newsman Graham Kemp, VK4BB:

A party-type Pico balloon carrying a payload was launched from Melbourne  on Saturday October the 18th and tracked to Tamworth News South Wales,  between Sydney and Brisbane.

It was launched by Andy Nguyen VK3YT who says that during that flight solar  powered Pico balloon PS-23 balloon payload was heard on WSPR as far away  as the United States by W8AC James Martin in Ohio.

The tracking of the 25-Milliwatt balloon involved stations in VK1, VK2, VK3, VK5, VK6, VK7 and ZL1 using Olivia and JT65 on 30m and 20m.

 Andy VK3YT says PS-23 landed near Tamworth to be recovered by a team of Scouts  from the local JOTA, lead by Ashley VK2XSO and Ron VK2HRD.

It was launched again on Sunday but this time with Payload number 2 using  JT9. That flight landed in the Tasman Sea on Sunday night.

Andy VK3YT says the tests performed by the two payloads proved the viability of using JT9 and JT65 types of weak signal digital modes for balloon telemetry.

According to VK4BB, both balloons were tracked all the way to ground level by VK6XT near the city of Perth in Western Australia and ZL1RS in New Zealand, both of whom are many thousands of kilometers away from where the launch and the flights took place.   (WIA News)
